CIMG founded under the Professional Bodies Registration Act to be the voice of marketing practice in Ghana.
2020
Parliament passes the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana Act (Act 1021), granting CIMG a Presidential Charter.
2023
The CIMG Regulations (L.I. 2479) come into force, enabling the Institute to fully execute its mandate.
Our history
The Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana was founded in July 1981 with the vision to be the voice of marketing practice in Ghana under the Professional Bodies Registration Act 1973 (NRCD143). The Institute aims to see both private and public organisations embrace the marketing concept and become marketing oriented in their operations.
In 2020, CIMG received a Presidential Charter through the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana Act, 2020 (Act 1021), with the mandate to set standards for the practice of marketing and to regulate the profession in the country. In 2023, the CIMG Regulations (L.I. 2479) came into force, enabling the Institute to carry out that mandate in full.

Governing Council
The Institute is led by a Governing Council drawn from senior marketing practitioners across Ghana, government nominees and elected members, per the CIMG Act 2020.
